My name is Sierra Bessey and I am a professionally trained doula working towards my certification. I am an independent doula providing service for both Carver and Hennepin counties* in Minnesota, in addition to other regions of the Twin Cities if needed.

I have been interested in birth since my AP Biology class my sophomore year of high school when we did a project on fetal development and watched the Business of Being Born. I decided to pursue a career in nursing with a specialty in labor and delivery, but after a semester, I realized that was not the right fit for me. So I decided to chase my other passion in life, animals. I worked for a large non-profit animal sanctuary the past 10 years. It was an incredibly rewarding career and I am so grateful for it, but after 10 years I decided to leave. During those ten years I have had two of my own children and chose to have a doula by my side. After the birth of my first son with our doula, I realized that I am still passionate about birth, just not from a nurse's perspective but a doula's. ​​
​I trust the birth process and the incredible strength of the person bringing new life into the world. ​Birth is a pivotal and transformative experience, and having a trusted support system can truly make all the difference. As a doula, I play a unique role in that system, providing guidance, comfort, and reassurance. I am committed to providing birther-centered care, advocating for the needs and wishes of each birther. My goal is to create a safe environment where birthing individuals are supported and empowered. I strive to improve birth outcomes and enhance the overall experience for families. Supporting birthers through their happiest and hardest moments is what drives me as a doula. I believe that every birth is a unique journey that requires preparation, focus, patience, flexibility, and comfort. I'm here to be with you and support you as you realize the incredible capacity and intuition you have within.
